Orange Margarita

You can serve it with or without ice and garnished with lime and/or orange.

Orange Margarita Ingredients

How to make orange margarita

For this recipe, you shake all the ingredients (golden tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, orange juice, agave syrup and ice) in a cocktail shaker and pour into glasses.

Step by Step How to Make Orange Margarita

Now, the shaking does not take long but it’s good to shake it well so that the ice cools the orange margarita.

Then, just pour it into a glass of your choice (with rim dipped in salt – optional) and you are done!

If you feel that the orange margarita is not chilled to your liking, just add more ice.

How to do Perfect Salt Rim for Margarita Glass

Note: When serving this cocktail on the rocks I highly recommend using large ice cubes. They are perfect for a fast chilling without diluting your cocktail much.

Can you make margaritas without a shaker?

You definitely can! A mason jar is a great alternative. Just give everything a good shake before pouring this orange margarita into a glass.

In fact, a mason jar might be a better option when making orange margarita cocktails for a large crowd as you can fit more portions into a large jar, if needed.

Pouring Orange Margarita to the Glass

What glasses do you serve margaritas in?

The best and fanciest choice would be the welled glasses. If you don’t have them on hand, then don’t panic and use whatever it is you have on hand.

What salt to use when making an orange margarita?

I’ve tried coarse salt as well as table salt and either of them is fine to use. The coarse salt might not stick to the rim as well as table salt though.

Orange Margarita with Lime and Orange Slices

What is gold tequila?

It’s tequila that is gold (brownish) in color. Its color comes either from the barrels that it was aged in OR from caramel or coloring added.

Agave substitution

Simple syrup (If you are not sure how to make it, this article might help you: How to make simple syrup) is widely used for making cocktails so it would be a great alternative to agave syrup.
