This orange basil infused water is the perfect drink for hot summer days. It’s refreshing, tasty and easy to make. Subtle basil and citrus flavor with a hint of turmeric.
Guys, infused waters are perfect for summer. During hot weather it’s important to stay hydrated so drinking a lot of water is a must. But let’s be honest with each other. Water can get boring after a while. Don’t you think?
That is why I try to turn boring water into a tasty drink by making infused water. Kiwi & mint infused water or lemon ginger water along with this orange basil infused water are one of my favorite flavor combinations.
By the way, I made this orange basil infused water on a whim and I am glad I did it. The flavor combo is perfect! Basil + turmeric + orange create a unique flavor that you will fall in love with.
However, if you would like to try make your own infused water, here are a few tips to help you make this refreshing summer drink.
What fruits are best when making infused water?
You can use any fruits and vegetables you like. Experiment with flavors to see what works for you and what doesn’t. Bear in mind that berries (blueberries, strawberries, ….) will infuse your water only lightly unless you mash/squash them first.
Things you should know when/before making infused water
Use herbs such as mint or basil, they are pretty fragrant and bring your infused water to a different level!
Use fruits & veggies of your choice but bear in mind, that some might not infuse your water as much as others.
The longer you keep the water in your fridge the stronger its taste.
Store your water in the fridge before serving.
Ginger and turmeric are perfect for making infused water of any kind.
Bruising herb leaves will lead to a stronger infusion.
Make sure your fruits are fresh. Gone off fruits will spoil your water.
This orange basil infused water is perfect for summer parties and family gatherings.
Guys, this recipe for orange basil infused water is very straight-forward and only takes 5 minutes to make so I hope you will give it a go!

You are lucky you always have basil in your garden! I am not that lucky but I agree herbs are underused!

What a great combination of flavors. Water can get boring but there is nothing boring about this recipe. I’m going to use the homegrown basil from my garden and make a pitcher this afternoon.

I found your website while looking for an iced coffee recipe. Mmmmm I just enjoyed it. Then I found this wonderful recipe. Oh yay! The only item we do not have is the fresh turmeric root. Can it be substituted with a powdered version? Thank you in advance🙂.
Julia | Happy Foods Tube says
Hi Jaci! That’s excellent! Thanks for your feedback. As for the powdered turmeric – I don’t recommend using it to make this infused water. Maybe just omit the turmeric or you can use fresh ginger root instead. Hope this helps :)

These recipes look lovely from the beautiful photos but the light color of the font you use makes it very hard for anyone with vision problems to read them. Please use a darker type so everyone can enjoy your information. Thanks!
Julia | Happy Foods Tube says
Hi Susan. Thanks for bringing up this issue! I had no idea… We will try to fix this as soon as possible.

Can I use turmeric power instead and if so how much? Deborah
Julia | Happy Foods Tube says
I don’t recommend doing so, Deborah. Perhaps just omit it, if you don’t have the fresh root. Hope this helps.
