On busy weekdays, I just love saving time. So why not save time with these raspberry chocolate chip overnight oats? Prepping your breakfast the night before is all it takes. The prep literally takes less than 5 minutes and there is no cooking involved!

All you have to do is place these overnight oats in your fridge and enjoy them in the morning. And guess what? If you are in a rush, just grab the jar and a spoon for breakfast on the go!

How to make chocolate chip overnight oats with raspberries

How to make overnight oats you ask? If you are new to the whole process, then read on:

Get a jar that is large enough to hold all the ingredients. Now, bear in mind that the oats will need space to expand. I used a 15-ounce (450-milliliter) jar. It’s perfect for ½ cup-⅔ cup oats + other ingredients.

The preparation is simple and quick: Throw everything in the jar, secure with a lid and shake well. Transfer the jar to the fridge and take it out the following morning.

You can eat overnight oats with chocolate chips, warm or cold. Now if you decide to heat it up, note that the chocolate chips might dissolve completely (depending on how warm you like your oats).

Ingredient substitutions

  • Greek Yogurt – Natural yogurt is another option. You could also use chocolate-flavored yogurt.
  • Swap raspberries for strawberries, blueberries or blackberries for a fruity twist.
  • Chocolate Chips – if you don’t have them on hand, roughly chop the chocolate bar and add to the jar.

Storage tips

Prepare these chocolate chip overnight oats up to five days in advance and store them in an airtight container in the fridge. They’re the perfect make-ahead breakfast for busy mornings, so you can grab and enjoy without any fuss!

However, if you plan to store them for longer than overnight, you should add the berries and chocolate chips right before serving. Also note that the longer they sit in the fridge, the softer they get (the more liquid they suck).

Tips for making overnight oats

  • Rolled oats work best for overnight oats because they soak up the liquid perfectly without turning mushy.
  • Raspberries and chocolate chips can be added to your oats either with the rest of the ingredients or right before serving.
  • The amount of ingredients can be adjusted to your liking.
  • Give everything a good stir to make sure the oats are evenly coated and flavored.
  • Let the oats soak for at least 6 hours.
